Meet Siemens

We recently caught up with Richard Durham, who is Production, Projects and Quality Manager at Siemens Mechanical Drives in Leeds, a longstanding partner of UTC Leeds. Siemens is a global engineering and advanced technologies company covering many exciting areas of development from automotive to construction and healthcare.

Meet Lambert Engineering

We recently caught up with Nick Green, Production Director at Tadcaster-based Lambert Engineering, a new partner of UTC Leeds. Sound Leisure is a Leeds-based manufacturer mostly known for building classic juke boxes – one of only two traditional jukebox manufacturers in the world and the only company in the world to produce a vinyl-playing jukebox. The company has supported UTC Leeds since it was first proposed and has developed a strong partnership with the hi-tech 14-19 school. Support comes right from the top with the involvement of Managing Director, Chris Black.

We caught up with Chris at the launch of a week-long festival of science and technology at the UTC, which Sound Leisure helped to sponsor.

The RAF is one of the biggest employers of engineers in the UK and finding high quality recruits with the potential to fill these roles is a constant challenge. The RAF is now working with University Technical Colleges around the country because they focus on developing young people with the professional, technical and personal skills to take up careers in engineering.
